The blackened midnight sky
sees only the dim light of the moon
And its loneliness seems forsaken
as if in mourning for the dawn
And chased by the evening clouds
which sequester its light
Shall cast these dark hideous shadows
remembering that which is?
or mere reflections of that which once was?
For alone I now stand in your darkness
in its obscurity I cannot see; I dare not look
As my mind truly knows this painful reality
I feel protected by my hearts denial
Now I run through the darkness; the shadows
my mind is void of all thoughts; 'cept one
For it seeks the light in the hope
that the morning shall bring comfort
At peace now, 'till night does come again
